Seed Packing Method The Seed and Naupilli are packed in polythene bags filled with water of required salinity temperature and PH. Each bag is filled with 7-8 liters. of water and 10-15 liters of Oxygen. The number of seed / naupilli per bag depends mainly on the distance of transport and the age of the seed. Live feeds like Artimia naupilli are also added while packing to reduce the cannibalism. Species like scampi are highly cannibalistic in nature even at early post larval stage and are normally packed 1000 to 1200 pieces per bag (25 liters.) Transport of the packed seed is done in the late evening or early hours of the day to avoid the temperature (the metabolic rate will be high when the temperature is high). Mean of Transport is decided depending on the distance. The packed seed should reach within 8-10 hrs to get good survival in the grow out. The seed once reached in the farm are unloaded and the polythene bag with the seed are kept in the pond water floating for hours during when pond water is added to the bag slowly. Suggested acclimatization of the post larvae to the pond having a PH difference of 1 is for 1 hour. |
