Our spirulina is used commercially by shrimp Hatcheries
primarily as a larval feed and algal replacement. Discus fish breeders also use spirulina
powder in their fry feed also. It is a great source of amino acids, pigments, vitamins and
minerals. Spirulina is particularly rich in carotenoid and xanthophyll pigments, factors
which are important in attaining bright skin colors in captive prawn. The key benefits in
adding spirulina to your prawn's diet are: Increased growth, heightened immunity, improved
shell appearance, and, improved coloring. For inclusion in home-made diets or
enrichments, Brine Shrimp Direct recommends a 2-8 % inclusion rate.
